Final Thoughts

As I conclude this blog, I would like to leave anyone thinking about creating a resume with a few thoughts. First of all, show yourself off when creating a resume! Include everything about yourself! What you tell them is what they will know! Second of all, be sure to format the resume professionally. This is a company's first impression of you. Third of all, be sure to have a variety of items to add to your resume. Demonstrate that you are well rounded individual.

I wish you the best of luck! Find involvements that not only interest you, but also that will provide with adequate experience that will prepare you for a potential occupation. Have fun with these involvements! What an exciting time we are entering in our life! Best of luck! It has been fun researching, dialogging, and processing with you!

Mission Trips

Another item that might be attractive on a resume is the inclusion of a mission trip. Gaining a job can be a difficult task because of the competitive nature of the job market. Like I have said many times, in this blog, it is all about standing out. I encourage you to consider participating in a mission trip. This not only adds something a bit unique to your resume, it also portrays you as a person. By revealing who you are as an individual, you are able to stand against the competition beyond your involvements, alone. As I think about entering the work force, I often struggle with the fact that I am not going into a job that is particularly known for being a place for ministry to take place, such as being a pastor or missionary. However, by gaining experience, such as through a mission trip, you might be able to develop skills that you will be able to use in your career. I have come to realize that one's mission field can occur in any setting. I can shine God's light in an office, just as much as I can shine it to children of Africa.

Check out this website. The organization provides opportunities for people to serve within the United States, which can be helpful considering how busy people are in our society and the amount of money it can cost to travel over seas.

What do employers look for?

Here is link designed specifically to discuss guidelines for students to consider when a student wants to "sell" themselves. This list derrives from a survey that was conducted by Michigan State's Collegiate Employment Research Institute. Check this credible source out for things to consider gathering, then mentioning when you are creating a resume!

Other things to add!

Throughout my blogging, I realize that I have placed a huge emphasis on landing an internship. While this is incredibly important when applying for jobs and creating a resume, it is not the only thing that will land a job. Here is a link that includes other things to consider when applying for a job and creating a resume!

Indiana University

Finding an internship is often times a scary adventure to begin! It can often times seem overwhelming. This site might be encouraging for a student to check out! It includes an article from the students reflecting on their experiences, as well as a list of their internships, which could provide some ideas. The link also includes the students' advice on landing an internship! To know that we are not alone is both comforting and may give us confidence to step into the search for an internship!

Target Internship

Finding an internship can be a tricky task. An internship is so important, however, because it often makes connections and paves the way to a possible occupation upon graduation. We place so much pressure on what major we are going to choose, why not ensure that we are using what we studied? This link caught my eye for a variety of reasons!

1. Target is a well-known company. It would be an honor to work for a company, such as this.
2. It emphasizes their excitement for their interns to bring their unique background to the job, embracing who the intern is, as an individual!
3. The link discusses the internship's emphasis on developing SKILLS, rather than just gaining experience.

... and more! Check it out!

Find an internship!

It is becoming increasingly more apparent the finding an internship is absolutely essential. There are more resources on the internet than I know what to do with! Here is proof of that! There is an entire search engine, devoted to helping students find an internship! Check it out!
